I can hear Faith's style and influence in this old performance by Blu. I personally think Blu killed this, but I wouldn't mind hearing Faith do it, and i know she could handle this. What yall think?
PS>It's ridiculous I feel like i'm listening to Faith doing those runs right now. lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paQbSuuwaos I always thought to myself thats what seperates Faith from Blu... If you listen to her(blu) runs & the volume she sings her lyrics in the beginning of both songs, they are very weak!!!! yeah they may sound like Faith a lil bit, but they are very, Very low & lack control. ANother big thing Blu is just doing runs at the at the end her songs (somewhat adlibbing the same words of the chorus over and over), while Faith on the other hand....adlib whole new phrases that pair with the meaning of the song(keep it from sounding boring)..... LAST BUT NOT LEAST, THIS IS BLU SINGING LIVE!......BLU BACKGROUND IS LOUDER THAN HER(ESPEACIALLY IN THE 2ND SONG).... I HAVE SEEN FAITH LIVE TWICE, TRUST YOU CAN HEAR HER VERY CLEAR & SHE USUALLY LOUDER THAN HER BAND & BACKGROUNDS.......

Blu can sing I will not take that from her however she isn't as seasoned as Faith and she clearly studied Faith and tried to master the sound yet Blu can't deliver effortless vocals. Yes my boo boo Faith had her hit and miss days but she's always been able to DELIVER as song period! Blu isn't the same. Blu always seems to be hit and miss and a little sloppy most times. If you're a fan of Blu ok that's great but she is NO Faith Evans. If you were to put them both on stage and say go at it Faith would have tricks for Blu that she could not match!! None the less Blu needs to get her own style and polish it. Most of the performances I have seen of her I have not enjoyed because the vocals were all over the place. I have liked a few of her recordings but she can't deliver that live.

Adding to that Blu sounds like EARLY Faith. She can't compare to what Faith sounds like now. Her stage presence is lacking as well. It's like she's doing to much with her body and facial expression and not focusing on sounding good. I just don't like it. It's close but definitely no cigar!! I would compare Faith to Kelly Price as I always have. To me they sound similar at times not as much as they used to however they are on the same page vocally.

Granted, I was referring more to the first performance where Blu sounds like Faith. U right there is some control lacking esp in the beginning when she sings a phrase, and yeah Faith is a lil more seasoned, but it kinda reminds me of Faith during the Faithfully era.

I remember reading an article on Blu and she said a producer walked up to her thinking she was another artists (we all know that's faith). I believe she really copied Faith vocal style but She can't match that smooth vocal tone of Faith. Faith's tone is where she kills lots of R&B chicks... it's so smooth and angelic sounding.

I think people are too quick to compare similar artists. I don't think Blu necessarily copied her style but shes just a "similar" artist...I personally don't care for her voice. There's a reason why she faded to black so quick, she doesn't have that IT factor that artists need in the business to succeed.

Not only is her tone BETTER she is more versatile than most of the artists out there. She can do more than just her native gospel/r&b roots. She gives good throwbacks, dance hall, jazz, doo wop, punk/funk, etc. Listen to her Christmas cd!! She knows how to throw down using them chops as well as pull back to give a nice sultry approach. Faith is simply THE female R&B singer!!

I remember when her 1st single dropped - I thought she reminded me of Faith during the "Keep the Faith" era...

Oh she copied it alright! She briedfly was a background singer for Faith. Yea she was studying her alright. No doubt Blu has her own thing as well I just feel Faith is more polished. It's in the ear of the beholder who they feel is a better singer based on what they like. I choose Faith because as an artist myself she not only brings GREAT vocals to the table she also has a brand with her writing and arranging. Faith is simply that chic!!!
