*There was a minor drama around the BET Honors tribute to Mary J. Blige. Producers reportedly wanted Keyshia Cole to do one of Mary’s songs but word is that Blige’s husband and manager, Kendu Isaacs, squashed that idea.

“He thought there was already too much comparison between Keyshia and Mary," an insider said. "They were going back and forth on it all week. It got ugly.”

Keyshia Cole wound up paying tribute to legendary dancer/choreographer Judith Jamison.

All I can say is...

If true...I don't blame Kendu....all she is trying to do is promote that awful album on Mary's night...

I hope this story is not true!....... Keyshia has been very vocal on being a fan of Mary's!.....

Honestly, I can't see Anita Baker doing any of Mary's songs?....... Love no limit (album version) I guess.......

I don't think Mary like Keyshia Cole. U notice the pattern.. everytime ppl start comparing an artist to Mary... then she start hating on them. Like she did Faith back in the days. Its crazy... I remember her being asked who she would like to sing at her tribute and she answered "only the real singers like Faith or Jill Scott." Poor Keyshia need to stop sucking up to her. I like her but she don't do to good live though.

No - she doesn't do good live..She hasn't been in the game long enough to have developed a certain polished, professional image and that tv show with her and that family doesn't help at all - at least not for me...

Shouldn't we be honoring Anita Baker instead of having her sing a tribute to Mary....BET so backwards.

I understand Kendu but damn Keyshia shouts out Mary and gives her love every interview.....Shame after all these years Mary still has those insecurity issues......

I also heard that Mary and Kendu got one of the people at Geffen fired cause they felt they were trying to turn Keyshia into the new Mary and Keyshia supposedly called and verbally assaulted Mary calling her all types of bitches.....Keyshia is Hood, definitely reminds me of Faith....Difference is Faith will come see you. LOL

i can only imagine what she said........but, going back to Mary, i've heard about how she cut ties with different people all because of this "image" the fans have given Keyshia. I have to wonder about how Monica felt during this showdown, knowing that Monica and Keyshia Cole are friends. i kinda feel sorry for Keyshia, but at the same time, she need to tone down her attitude. really, i think Mary don't like Keyshia's swag.
